Renowned for its sumptuous chateaux, the relics of royal days gone by, the glorious valley of the Loire is rich in both history and architecture. The magnificent chateaux of the Loire are a major attraction for lovers of art and history. They sit in verdant landscapes of forest and gardens. Often called the “Garden of France”, the Loire Valley is an enchanted land of vineyards, flowers and rolling green hills. Producing much of the fruit and vegetables sold throughout France, as well as some of the country’s best goat cheese. Mushrooms are also cultivated here in the soft stone of the tuffa caves.
